Maryland

Walch Education works closely with districts and individual educators across Maryland. We monitor new developments with the HSA and MSA. We also listen closely to requests for materials and programs that address standards and are user-friendly, flexible, and cost-efficient.

Our responses to Maryland's unique situation are specific and effective:

  • Our Maryland Academic Support Program for Algebra I and Data Analysis, available in 60- and 120-hour versions, was created in partnership with Baltimore County Public Schools. The program is based on the Core Learning Goals and employs varied instruction models. Currently being used for credit recovery, HSA preparation, and alternative placement students, it is now available throughout Maryland.
  • With Prince George's County, we are also preparing an Algebra and Data Analysis program. This full-year course is designed for high-achieving 8th graders who plan to take the HSA before high school. The program will also be available statewide by this summer.
  • Our Maryland Academic Support Program for English II was developed in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools. It is a five-week summer school program that combines direct instruction, student practice, writing tasks, and assessment strategies.
  • Our new Maryland Academic Support Program for English II HSA Mastery was also designed jointly with Baltimore City Public Schools. It is a semester- or year-long teacher toolkit that delves more comprehensively into preparing for the HSA. Like the summer school program, it is now available throughout the state.
  • We offer professional development so that Maryland educators can more effectively understand and implement Walch Education programs.
  • We regularly provide on-call assistance for partners, districts, and schools.
  • We exhibit and present at the annual conferences of organizations such as the Maryland Middle School Association and the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
