Florida educators say this about our Academic Support Program:

"This really is a jumping off for the teacher. It's awesome."

"It allows for differentiation very nicely. It's beautiful for a range of students."

"It's exactly what our teachers need. It's not just a program - it teaches teachers."

"It's a behind the desk teacher-go-to for any kid's need."

"This binder is so easy to use and the materials are so well organized that even if you trained a trainer or a Reading Coach, it would do the trick."

"It's so nice that it's TEACHER based and not technology based. It shows the teacher HOW to interact with the kids."

"I like that everything is organized and ready to use, I don't have to come up with the activities myself."

"Clear, concise, not too much!"

"I like the structured pacing chart."

"Great for review!"

Florida

Florida is revising its Sunshine State Standards and FCAT requirements. As we monitor events, Walch Education works closely with districts and educators throughout the state.

We understand the challenges of stringent graduation requirements, declining enrollments, and uncertain budgets. We recognize that educators require materials and programs that address Sunshine State Standards and are user-friendly, flexible, and cost-efficient.

Our responses to Florida's unique situation are specific and effective:

  • Our Florida Academic Support Program for English Language Arts, Grades 9-12 has been adopted by the state's Department of Education. It is now available through the Florida School Book Depository. The "ASP" is a flexible, 80-hour, Sunshine State Standards-based program. It targets after-school, tutoring, summer school, and other intervention settings.
  • Our Florida Academic Support Program for Mathematics, Grades 6-8 was developed in partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County. It is now available statewide. It is based on Sunshine State Standards, and contains up to 100 hours of varied, flexible instruction. Following a 4-week summer school program, 200 Palm Beach County students showed an average increase of 38% in their scores, with some classrooms achieving 89% gains. Collier County and Pinellas County have purchased this program for their districts.
  • Our Station Activities for Florida Mathematics is available for grades 6-7 and 8. It has become a popular method for teaching mathematics through small-group, hands-on experiences. Station Activities has been purchased for district-wide use in Lake County and Osceola County.
  • Our Daily Writing Fundamentals series was authored by Florida educators and literacy coaches. The series employs authentic student writing passages in daily exercises. Teachers infuse instruction of writing strands and conventions in brief scaffolded lessons.
  • We offer professional development so that Florida educators can more effectively understand and implement Walch Education programs.
  • We regularly provide on-call assistance for partners, districts, and schools.
  • We exhibit and present at the annual conferences of the Florida Council of Teachers of English and the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Florida Association of Mathematics Supervisors, and the Secondary Reading Council of Florida.
